Joni Brennan is the President of the Digital ID & Authentication Council of Canada (DIACC). Building upon 15 years of hands on experience in Identity Access Management innovations and industry standards development, Joni helps the DIACC to fulfill its vision of organizing Canadian market forces to unlock digital identity and authentication (DIA) economic and societal opportunities for all Canadians. The DIACC is comprised of a coalition of public and private sector organizations committed to developing a robust, secure, scalable and privacy enhancing digital identification and authentication ecosystem that will decrease costs for governments, consumers, and business while improving service delivery and driving GDP growth. A made-in-Canada digital identification ecosystem will reflect Canadian values and priorities, and empower Canadians to conduct a wide range of secure online transactions and interactions both domestically and internationally.
Joni builds diplomatic collaboration relationships and formalizes strategic partnerships between organizations. She has participated in international organizational committees including: OECD ITAC, ISOC, IEEE, OASIS SSTC, ISO SC27 WG5, and ITU-T SG17 Q6. She has testified regarding trusted Identity and Access Management systems for the US Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology Security and Privacy (ONC HITSP).
Before joining DIACC Joni was Kantara Initiative's Executive Director focusing on technology evangelism, trust frameworks, and policy and technology interoperability to connect entities and individuals in a more trustworthy environment. Joni lead Kantara Initiative, a premiere trust framework provider facing multiple industry sectors. As a US FICAM Trust Framework Provider Kantara Initiative provides Accreditation and Approval verifications for digital identity ecosystem components and services. Joni helped to ensure that Kantara Initiative program is aligned with multiple eGovernment strategies including: Government of Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
Joni Brennan previously served as the IEEE-SA Technology Evangelist for Internet Identity and Trust focusing on issues of governance, policy, and technology development that touch digital Identity, personally identifiable information, and trust services.
