Dan Harkness leads the Cyber Operations Research & Situational Awareness (CORSA) group at Argonne National Laboratory and is a senior member of the DOE Cyber Fed Model (CFM) program. Dan leads his team to focus on researching improvements to cyber operations that can be realized in the near-term. He is a strong proponent of cyber-focused information sharing and believes we need to improve the quality of – and decrease the time to generate – situational awareness for cyber analysts and decision makers. His favorite thing about working at a DOE National Lab is the opportunity to have a positive real-world impact on the security and prosperity of the national and global communities.
Dan’s passion for cyber began as a teenager and he believes strongly that we need to invest more in cyber workforce development, starting (but not ending) with piquing the interest of our K-12 students. He holds BS degrees in Computer Engineering and Computer Science and an MS degree in Computer Engineering and Information Assurance, all from Iowa State University, and is a current CISSP.
