The nation of Bhutan, represented by Druk Holding and Investment and the GovTech Agency of Bhutan, received the “Special Award Decentralized ID in Practice” for significant steps towards a modernized digital infrastructure for an entire nation. Launched in February 2023, the country developed its national digital identity (NDI) using a self-sovereign identity model based on decentralized identity technology.
