Right. Peter Bush has Raj already mentions my name. I'm the product owner for all things, decentralized decent technologies, blockchain, digital identities for mobility, for the mobility business units at Bosch. And so let me tell you a little bit about our plans for future mobility, where we really see one of the major concepts. What we identified really is how can we achieve, how can we get trust in the infrastructure when it says car to car and car to infrastructure mobility. So let me just begin and tell you a little bit about Bosch. You might have heard a, a bit about it already.
The Bosch group is a worldwide acting industry crew with four main areas here. And you see the main areas really still rely on indu industrial technology and mobility. So this is one of the reasons we put a lot of effort there.
However, the other areas, well as well, grow energy building and consumer goods, because all, and that's why we're Bo maybe is known for yeah, all the power drills, all the version machines and all that stuff, as well as something.
And this will come together in the future. This what makes very interesting. And so what we see is a, a thing of an really appliance of internet of things here.
So what, when we, when we started with our central activities regarding distributed large tech technologies, we started at the idea of, okay, what will the internal things bring us? What will, how will our products change? Because all the domains will really get connected. The massive data that would get created will change the business models and really the, the mass of data we really will have to find in production in post production in our business models will have some really new challenges for us, however well, possibilities or opportunities. Of course.
So we looked at blockchain technologies quite early, and this I think is one of the last sayings or less words, presentations of the word blockchain.
Cause I really love to do say this very large technologies. It's that? I think you all know why, but however, what we have found here is really the, the combination of this really interesting concepts of crypto currencies. Yeah. Just the pay digitally and decentralization trust, which I talk about most today and the other thing machine to machine value exchange, not only data, but really value when it all comes together.
These new technologies, the internet of things, technologies, we come to a new thing, which we, which we call economy of things. So other device will be connected and not only devices, however, as well, the people, their subjects and the, the natural persons will get some kind of identity in the future. And that's what we already know. And so all our device in the future will do business with each other because we're not only exchange value, it's exchanged not only data we exchange value and more means of that.
We get to autonomous legal entities here.
So they make contracts with each other, they make business. So this is what makes very interesting. And so we looked in the past at all the developments of the different blockchain areas here and came up really in these days to very interesting new developments. That's what I would like to really talk about and concentrate on. So when we talk about really these concepts decentralization, of course, immutability all the data, which is there count, or shouldn't be changed.
And again, when, when they haven't think about transactions in the car and as well, a trusted exchange, what we normally not have today. So, and these were the steps we are, were looking through like really from one to five, starting with this means of digital payment in the car and as well, the digital notary and identity stuff. So that a car not only moves seamlessly through smart cities for in the future.
However, it needs to authenticate and be authorized itself to do stuff, to consume service and all that. And with that as well, we have to look at the, the means of contracts and when we have achieved all that, we come to economic device at the end. So where really devices make that business that we achieve and that we want to understand better. And so this is our five step strategy for the economy of things.
And really what, what really drives us today is really as well, have a means of breaking that deadlock that we see today with the central platforms growing, growing everywhere, where we always have this intermediary, these large, very, very, very mighty owner in the background where you not always know what kind of things they have in mind. So anyone, anybody tries to build up their own central platforms, but you know, that that normally does not really work.
So we need to means to really change that.
But however, the really thing is when you look at internal things that doesn't really have an identity layer, not decentralized as you would like to have, what of course have today is really in the identity providers already where you can have these federated logins in all these nice central platforms that you have and are working quite well. You have really cool services, however, it's not you, which is in center. It's really other companies. Yeah. Maybe the government, maybe companies corporates in the background.
What we really need here is another thing which you already talked about and heard a lot about, I guess, decentralized digital identities where the, the customer, you, the subject is really as well in the center. And we see very interesting developments coming back here, and that's what we are developing our product products on in the future.
Definitely we look a lot at, on the self-sovereign identity protocols. Talk about a lot of these nice new architectures for how digital identity could work in the future.
And the good thing here, what we see really is standardization and the scalability, what we need when we talk about billions of devices, which need to identify, which need to communicate. And when we talk about cars and all the other infrastructure devices, then of course all these needs to get applied or implemented in the future. So when we talk as well about new products and business model, we have to have a look as well on the markets and on their business models. And so what we see today is really decentralized marketplaces.
However, some decentralized marketplace and service platforms need to get as well developed together so that we come to a common trust infrastructure. Of course, we will always have decentral marketplaces, but as well, we need to have a means of these decentralized mechanisms again, and here.
We really put our trust and our ideas as well in decentralized methodologies and architecture and here.
But it's very important that we have open standards that we have not only one platform we need to trust that we have equipped the graphically control identifiers and all that stuff from the technical side, what you might have heard of as well. And at the moment, which is most important for us, really, when it comes to mobility is safety on the roads and therefore we need really cool, good understood standards. We need to understand is open source architectures mechanisms, what we have here, and that is what we are building on with our products for the future.
So the next steps, what we see here is huge opportunities when we have as this I ecosystem in the future, really that we have distrusted relationships. So lots of companies of course need to be part of that ecosystem, but as well, the governments, but as well, the, the natural persons themselves.
So private households for example, could join the network and could put up their own business models here. And as well, all this data of course needs to be safe and secure.
And we have this GDPR regulations, and I think what as I, and the surrounding decentralized technologies, we can really achieve this. And of course we are in a globalized world.
We, what we need more is this cross border collaboration and need here as well, safety security in all these likes, when it comes to the internet of things, then again, the cross border data. So, so much important, even that you see what would kind of very interesting mechanisms, projects are building up these days. Talk about GE later a little bit more. And that's what we build up our products on. So one of the products that we are currently working on and last week, we had a really successful week and in Munich, well has been, have been there on the IAA.
So we, we exercised some investing POCs, proof of concepts with deep parking or seamless parking. So we really implemented SSI here on the car and in the infrastructure. And we made it possible that the car themselves find parking places, which normally are not there. So companies like government departments can open their parking places with SSI because cars, devices get identified and authorized to pack them even when it's normally not possible. And that's what we made as, as an example, showed it to customers discussed it a lot, of course, this is the beginning, and this is still research.
However, we would like to build on that, to try out what, what is possible with digital identities in the future and what really will be possible made in the future. We'll see when these huge Gaia X project families are get a reality. And at the moment we are planning for one of these projects in the future mobility cluster in Gaia X, which is this huge European cloud infrastructure environment or enterprise as you could call.
And then we plan to establish a project where we would like to put really decentralized digital identity in the car and in the road.
So SSI at vehicles B two X, so vehicle to infrastructure products and mobility, and as well, we need to talk about decentralized data sharing here as well. So what happens to the data, if it's decentralized organized, if you don't have one central cloud where all the data is, how can that work? And when you look at the structure here of GX, what you can see is the core values, identity, and trust data compliance, and federated catalogs is all these main topics that we have to research on that we need to understand.
And we have a really lot of very, very good and huge and corporations there, however, as well, very interesting startups and as well, the universities, which are working on that field to make that a reality in the future.
So, and here we need to really have a best basis this infrastructure system, what we need as a basis, but as well to cover this core values.
Again, of course, we need to come up then later on with use cases and with applications which work on these spaces. So we really look forward what, what this will bring to us. So I'm already the conclusion sheet that we have some more time as well for questions.
So when we talk about this missing trust layer, we need to have a means of really, how can we come up with answers to questions for these future IOT challenges that we see in all industries and as well, of course, when we see it trust, which is not there yet, as we would like to have it and needed for safety on the roads for real decentralized access that we need to come up with new solutions and here, of course, decentralized decentralization is one of the solution aspects.
Definitely. And on the other side, what we really are trying out these days are these blockchain based identities.
This could be one of the solutions, of course, when you read the press, when you discuss it with experts and with other people, and when they hear blockchain and they say, okay, what's that in the what's that behind it and how power consumption, all that stuff. So definitely we research here, different decentralization solutions as well.
However, these days we see in these concept, some very interesting opportunities that we I think can solve for the IOT tasks that we see in the future. And really we are currently already starting it. We come out with the first POCs, which will get real products in the future. We talking to all our business units at BOSH would think about the future products, not only in mobility, of course, because when you have a decentralized trust infrastructure, this is of course a base for all the products, for all the connected devices, which I showed you in the beginning where we have rich portfolio of.
And if you look again at these ideas of this architectures that you see in terms of self identity, for example, I think this is really a very, very interesting architecture, which, which can, which really holds what, what it promises in the future, what we hope. However, this only can built up again within an ecosystem with a functioning ecosystem, with lot of lots of partners, which help us there. We can do it alone. Nobody can do it alone, of course, but to make that again. Sure.
We do not want to make it happen only with the classic approaches that we currently see in the central platform approaches. So of course, Google, Amazon, apple, and the likes are really have developed very, very good systems architectures and all that.
However, we need to have some, some yeah. Technology, which may be in parallel, shows us in other ways, in like decentralized future, more and more, more that we have here, better opportunities for new products into cover.
Again, these core use, which GX really finally summarizes. And again, when it comes to digital identities, which helps us with trust. When we talk about data sovereign, we start here with Germany, with Europe, however, I guess what we see as well in other countries, lot of very interesting projects and projects growing everywhere in the world.
