Wiesbaden, January 27, 2021 – In order to cope better with a changing business, IT, and threat environment, the demand for Security Operations Center-as-a-Service (SOCaaS) is increasing. SOCaaS is driven by the move to cloud and the inability to deal with security alert overload. These are core findings of the most recent Market Compass by KuppingerCole Analysts AG. The report compares SOCaaS from the following ten vendors: ConnectWise, CriticalStart, CyberHat, Cygilant, Cysiv, IBM, inSOC, Open Systems, Proficio, and Secureworks. To paint a broader picture of the market beyond these key players, other providers of solutions in this market segment are listed in the report.
SOCaaS is a cloud-based managed security service (MSS) built on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for Security Operations Center (SOC) services, including Managed Detection and Response (MDR). SOCaaS enables organizations to consolidate all security threats, tools, and systems into a single point of control to resolve all alerts and respond to indicators of compromise. It also provides the means of demonstrating to auditors a concerted effort to cover all cybersecurity risks and enable a comprehensive threat detection and response capability.
SOCaaS providers tend to focus on either the upper or lower end of the market rather than try to meet all the needs of all sizes and types of organizations. “Providers are expected to specialize to cater to the needs of particular market segments as well as introduce more automation and Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) capabilities as differentiators,” says Warwick Ashford, author of the report and Senior Analyst at KuppingerCole. He expects the market to continue to grow and develop as organizations seek to improve security and keep hiring costs as low as possible.
