Gerhard Andres is a highly experienced professional in ICT security and operational technology (OT) with over three decades of expertise in network operations, cybersecurity, and technology leadership. Currently serving as Chief Expert OT Security at Deutsche Bahn, he has been instrumental in advancing cybersecurity measures for critical infrastructure since October 2020.
Prior to this role, he held several leadership positions at DB Systel GmbH, including Head of Business Unit and Senior Manager roles, where he oversaw the development and operation of ICT security portfolios, led strategic cultural transformation initiatives, and enhanced Deutsche Bahn's cybersecurity capabilities.
Before joining Deutsche Bahn, Mr. Andres spent 15 years at Vodafone D2 GmbH in various senior roles. His accomplishments include leading network management centers, developing next-generation network platforms, and managing complex IT and security operations for telecommunications. He was pivotal in optimizing service delivery for both consumer and enterprise segments.
His early career spans roles as a software developer and project manager at PSI AG and Telenet AG, where he specialized in network management systems and software implementation for nationwide IP networks.
Mr. Andres holds a Dipl. Ing. (FH) in General Electrical Engineering from Hochschule Landshut. His expertise encompasses ICT security, OT security, IP network management, strategic leadership, and the implementation of innovative security solutions.
