In today's rapidly evolving IT landscape, traditional identity and access management (IAM) systems are struggling to keep pace with the growing number of security threats, compliance requirements, and complex IT environments. Fine-grained policy-based access control (PBAC) has emerged as a promising solution to this problem, enabling organizations to better manage identities and enforce access controls to ensure that only authorized people and things have access to IT systems and data under the right circumstances.

In this conference track, attendees will learn about the business and security benefits of PBAC and how it supports a Zero Trust approach to security. The track will also focus on modernizing authorization for secure access control, a pressing challenge for the IAM industry. Attendees will hear from experts on how to support fine-grained authorization (both attribute-based access control (ABAC) and relationship-based access control (ReBAC)), manage authorization policy-as-code, perform real-time access checks, and collect fine-grained decision logs for comprehensive offline auditing and access analysis. It will also focus on two emerging ecosystems around modern authorization: policy-as-code and policy-as-data, and compare the strengths and weaknesses of each approach as foundational models for a robust access control system.
