Passkeys for CIAM – Pain & Gain
14:30—14:50

As digital interactions continue to grow, the security and usability of authentication methods are under increasing evaluation. Passkeys, the most current evolution of the phishing-resistant FIDO2 standard, promise both enhanced security and a better user experience in Customer Identity and Access Management. However, their adoption is not without challenges. This session will outline the value of passkeys and address real-world considerations and challenges that organizations face.
Key points to be covered include:
- Value Proposition of Passkeys: The potential of Passkeys to provide phishing-resistant authentication and robust identity security will be highlighted.
- Usability Improvements: Enhancements in user experience and accessibility with passkeys will be explored.
- Challenges in Real-Life Implementation:
- Compliance: The compliance considerations that come with implementing passkeys.
- User Journey: Impacts on the end-to-end user journey and considerations for user adoption.
- Operational Challenges: Issues related to authenticators, technical operations, and integration with existing systems.
Why This Topic Matters:
With the increasing demand for secure, seamless digital experiences, passkeys, grounded in the FIDO2 standard, offer a significant breakthrough in CIAM. Moreover, as spear-phishing attacks become more sophisticated and widespread due to advancements in Generative AI, phishing-resistant solutions like passkeys are critical to safeguarding users. To fully leverage these benefits, organizations must understand both the "pain" and "gain" of passkey implementation. Practical insights will be shared on navigating these challenges to achieve a successful passkey strategy.

Customer Identities without Email? Possible but a nightmare...?
14:50—15:10

In B2B environments serving craftsmen and workshops, having an email was (and IS!) not the standard for all employees who may be eligeble to shop for parts and products to do their daily work in construction or maintenance.
Some well-matured B2B shops still today work with "shared accounts", often relying on a personal email-address of the owner or manager, mostly from a commercial or even free email provider.
Moving such - often very large - user populations not only into a new CIAM solution but also into the 21st century becomes a pain, as most management processes rely on self-service procedures, which rely on dedicated personal emails to succeed (i.e. Password reset and the likes). The talk digs deep into the digitalisation barriers found in some verticals, deeply nested in the pre-internet age and favoring Fax and paper processes.

Leveraging Cutting-Edge Tools for Fraud Reduction
15:10—15:30

Fraud continues to evolve in complexity, driven by advancements in fraudsters' techniques and increasingly sophisticated threat actors. This presentation explores the latest trends in fraud, including the rise of synthetic identities, social engineering, and emerging threats within digital ecosystems. Key insights will be shared from global data on fraud incidents, shedding light on how economic shifts, technological adoption, and regulatory changes influence the fraud landscape. Particular focus will be given to the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and fraud, analyzing how both fraudsters and defenders harness AI for their respective purposes. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the evolving risk environment and its implications for organizations across industries.

Building on these insights, the presentation will delve into practical strategies and tools for fraud detection and prevention. Topics include the integration of AI and machine learning into fraud detection systems, real-time behavioral analytics, and advanced authentication methods such as biometric verification. By equipping attendees with actionable information, this session aims to empower organizations to stay ahead of emerging fraud threats and foster a more resilient operational framework.
