I’m leading the PKI expertise team of the Judicial Information Service of the Ministry of Security and Justice – the only PKI expertise team of the Dutch government. I’m responsible for the services and the business of the team. The Services contain classical PKI and also verification PKI infrastructures for reading, opening, checking and data analysis of the content of the chip in Passports and ID-cards in the context of law enforcement such as border crossing and ID checking.

As an in-depth expert I am a member and country representative in a diversity of PKI related fora, e.g. the European Commission and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). ICAO is the Specialized Agency of the United Nations for safe traveling and normalization for all kinds of standards and normative documents if it comes to airports, safety, passports and digital seals.

I am an active participant in the European Commission Technical Subgroup advising the Commission in technical matters regarding border crossing, breeder- and  ID documents (as described in article 6 of the Rules of Procedure of the EU).

In service from 1979 I have a track record of over 45 years in the Ministry of Justice in the Netherlands.

In different roles my focus has always been on the policy and organizational aspects of projects and services with strong IT-components and intricate dependencies, and creating a solid link between business, security and IT.

Since April 2011 I’ve been an active Board member of the ICAO PKD. Since May 2024 I have the role as chair of the ICAO PKD and before that for the period of 4 years I was the deputy chair of the ICAO PKD and member of the Executive Body.
