David runs his own consultancy company, Truetrust Ltd. Prior to this he was Professor of Information Systems Security at the University of Kent, and then CEO of Verifiable Credentials Ltd (VCL), a university spin out that designed and built one of the world's first W3C Verifiable Credentials conforming system - Identiproof. When VCL was acquired by Crossword Cybersecurity PLC, David was appointed as the R&D Director of Identiproof, during which time he led the EU Next Generation Internet (NGI) Atlantic funded project entitled Next Generation SSI Standards. This project developed conformance tests for OpenID for Verifiable Credentials (OID4VCs) and performed interworking tests between Europe and the USA on a dozen VC products.
David has been active in identity management for over 20 years and has been a regular speaker at EIC. He has contributed to many popular identity management standards including LDAP, X.509, SAML, W3C Verifiable Credentials and OID4VCs.
