Recognized for his leadership on critical cyber-physical matters of security, identity, and privacy confronting the world, Sal is active in standards for physical and logical security and privacy including as Secretary of the Kantara Leadership Council and Chair of the Advanced Notice and Consent (ANCR) Working Group. Sal is past President and Chair of the IDESG, the NIST sponsored initiative that developed and published a framework for trusted identities in cyberspace. Among the activities at IDmachines, Sal partners with the Security Industry Association (US) in providing the Open Supervised Device Protocol, OSDP Verified™ conformance program, which certifies physical access “card” readers and “door” controllers to the ISO/IEC 60839-11-5 standard, leveraging the IDmachines’ Eidola IoT platform.
Sal’s experience in physical and digital systems include the design, integration, and maintenance of numerous intelligent transport and infrastructure systems, 100+ industrial automation, robotics and computer vision systems, and numerous enterprise security, privacy, access control, and identity programs around the globe. As member of the Brookline, MA (USA) Surveillance Technology and Military Type Equipment Committee, Sal is contributing to policy at the local level.
Sal has a patent in sentient displays, an AB from Harvard College and collaborated with Ha Ha at the Hyde Park Art Museum. Sal had a brief (8 minute) career as a professional wrestler and is a (retired) member of the Mystic River Rugby Club, and Potomac Athletic Club (ex GWRFC).
