Tim Cappalli is a member of the Identity Standards Team in Microsoft's Identity Division. Tim is currently working on identity coexistence with privacy-related changes in browsers and operating systems, security event and signal sharing for zero trust, and the rapidly evolving world of FIDO2/WebAuthn.

He participates in working groups at the OpenID Foundation, W3C, FIDO Alliance, Decentralized Identity Foundation and IETF. He also is a member of Internet2's eduroam Advisory Committee, an advisory body to the Internet2 Community Architecture Committee for Trust and Identity (CACTI).

Previously, he was Aruba's Identity and Policy Architect, working on federated identity, secure wireless roaming, "zero trust", infrastructure context sharing and policy programmability. He worked with many industry groups including the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA), the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) and the OpenID Foundation (OIDF) focusing on identity for the evolution of secure Wi-Fi roaming, session context sharing and new network authentication technologies to address security concerns resulting from the exponential increase in IoT devices.

He has been working in the network identity and policy space for 10 years and joined Aruba in 2015 after spending time in Aruba's partner and customer communities.
